9th Annual "Picture This" Contest - 2007

Picture entering the scene from your manuscript that best describes your book. If that scene wins our contest you receive the prize of $100.00. Second and third place winners will receive a certificate.
Two published authors will select the best three entries, that will then be judged by Harlequin Editor, Diana Ventimigilia.
Picture This is open to all writers not published or contracted in book-length romantic fiction in the past three years. All entries will receive at least two score sheets. The contest is limited to the first 75 entries.

Contest Rules:

Deadline: All entries and entry fees must be postmarked by AUGUST 1, 2007. Entries received after the deadline will be returned unopened. Should more than 75 be received before the deadline, all entries received after the first 75 will be returned.
Entries: All entries should consist of the following:

Send us the best scene from your book, 5-12 pages. The scene entered must be from an unpublished manuscript of any category. Since entered scene can be from any part of the book, a one page, double-spaced set up page must be included to ensure less confusion for the judges. The set-up will not be judged.
Entrants must submit three copies of each entry.
A cover sheet must accompany each entry, listing the title, author's name, address, phone number, email address, and category for submission. Submissions will not be separated according to category; this is for information only. Headers must contain the title of the book, page number and subgenre category. The author's name must not appear anywhere on the manuscript, or it will be disqualified.
All entries will be scored. The decision of the judges is final. Enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope with sufficient postage for 5 pages of score sheets. Click here for a copy of the score sheet.
If you wish your entry returned, enclose a SASE with appropriate return postage must accompany each entry.

Format: Entry must be double-spaced, on one side of 8 1/2" X 11" white paper with one-inch margins and size 12 (Times New Roman or Courier New) font, 25-27 manuscript lines per page, unjustified right margins.
Entry Fee: A $20 entry fee must accompany all entries ($25 for non-RWA® members). Checks should be made out to Inland Empire Chapter RWA. An additional $20 will be charged for returned checks, and automatic disqualification. You may enter more than once, but each entry must come in a separate envelope with a separate entry form. All fees are NON-REFUNDABLE.
